What does it take to be a firefighter?
The following skills, abilities, experience, education and training are required elements for you to pursue a career with the Bathurst Fire Department:
Education and Experience:
- Secondary level diploma or equivalent;
- Ability to communicate functionally in both official languages;
- Firefighting certificate – Level I and II (NFPA 1001);
- Valid driver's license, with a Class 5E with airbrake endorsement, and a driving abstract demonstrating responsible and safe driving behavior;
- Medical First Responder or equivalent
Preferred candidates would possess one or more of the following:
- NFPA 1072 Hazardous Materials Technician
- NFPA 1002 Driver/Operator – Pumper
- NFPA 1002 Driver/Operator – Aerial
- Auto Extrication
