Our Mission

"The Bathurst Police Force will pursue professional excellence while protecting the lives and property of our citizens and visitors. We will ensure that our community is a safe and desirable place to live, work and visit."

Our mission is to foster a secure and inclusive community by:

  • Protecting Life and Property – Responding to emergencies, patrolling neighborhoods, and ensuring traffic safety.
  • Preventing and Investigating Crime – Conducting thorough investigations, collaborating with the community, and sharing information to deter criminal activity.
  • Building Trust and Partnerships – Engaging in community outreach, educational programs, and joint initiatives to address local concerns.

New in 2025 — Expanded Territory

As of March 5th, 2025, our policing jurisdiction expands to include additional areas beyond the "old" city limits. This extension allows us to provide consistent law enforcement support to citizens of "ward 2" and reinforce community safety measures throughout the region.

This new territory includes portions of North Tetagouche and South Tetagouche, Ste Anne, Big River, Roughwaters Drive, Gloucester Junction, Chamberlain Settlement and route 134 beyond Miramichi Avenue.

Community Engagement

We believe that strong relationships between law enforcement and residents are the cornerstone of safe, vibrant neighborhoods. Through community outreach, education programs, and collaboration with local stakeholders, we strive to create a culture of respect, transparency, and cooperation.

Building trust and positive relationships is at the heart of the Bathurst Police Force. We proudly host and participate in a variety of events, including a charity hockey game to raise funds for local causes, winter patrols providing hot coffee and warm clothing to those in need, Operation Red Nose during the holidays, and the youth-focused Police Academy Day. Through these initiatives, we aim to give back, educate, and promote safer communities.

By connecting with residents in positive ways, we strengthen partnerships and foster a safe, caring Bathurst for all.
