Daly Point Nature Reserve

Daly Point Nature Reserve

The Daly Point Nature Reserve, established in 1989 through a collaborative stewardship initiative between Brunswick Mining and Smelting and the New Brunswick Department of Natural Resources, has become a cherished natural gem in Bathurst.

In 2000, the property was officially transferred to the City of Bathurst, further cementing its role as a vital ecological space.

Spanning over 40 hectares, the park boasts approximately 6 km of winding trails that meander through stunning salt marshes, lush fields, and diverse mixed forests. As you explore, you will encounter a vibrant tapestry of flora and fauna, with hundreds of species of flowers, plants, and animals calling this sanctuary home.

One of the reserve's highlights is the spectacular arrival of thousands of Canada Geese each fall during their migratory journey. Nature enthusiasts will also be thrilled to spot the rare Maritime Ringlet Butterfly, a delicate species found in only ten salt marshes worldwide.

The reserve serves as the eastern trailhead of the Sentier Nepisiguit Mi’gmaq Trail (SNMT), the longest backcountry trail in the Maritimes and a recognized destination for adventurers seeking natural beauty and challenge.

As you traverse the trails, you will find strategically placed benches and interpretive signs, inviting you to pause, reflect, and fully appreciate the stunning nature surrounding you. Whether you are a seasoned hiker or a casual visitor, Daly Point Nature Reserve offers a captivating experience that connects you with the wonders of the great outdoors.
