Bathurst Police Force to serve expanded territory
  February 19, 2025

Wednesday February 19, 2025 – The Bathurst Police Force will soon be expanding its service delivery. Beginning on Wednesday March 5th, the police force’s service area will include the territories added to the city in 2023, as part of the province’s Local Governance Reform.

Known as “Ward 2”, the territory includes portions of North Tetagouche and South Tetagouche, Ste Anne, Big River, Roughwaters Drive, Gloucester Junction, Chamberlain Settlement and route 134 beyond Miramichi Avenue.

“The process leading to the transfer of service from our colleagues at the RCMP was meticulous, including active reviews of all operational components. With added members and vehicle assets to our force, we’re in position to ensure 24/7 services consistent with our actual territory to meet citizen expectations,” said Police Chief Guy Thériault.

The Bathurst Police Force services include but is not limited to: Patrol services, Street Crime Unit, Criminal Investigation Division, Forensic Identification, Community Liaison and Court services.

“I am confident that our presence in the expanded community, combined with the involvement of our officers in all types of activities, will be noticeable. Our goal is to improve the sentiment of safety within our residents and continue to make Bathurst a safe community where to live, work and visit,” added Thériault.

As of Wednesday March 5th, for non-emergency calls, residents in the new territory can call 548-0420 24hrs a day. For emergency situations, residents can call 9-1-1, as per usual.
