Former Mill Site

The City of Bathurst invested substantial efforts in the revitalization of the former Smurfit-Stone Mill Site, aiming to transform the future of the community’s waterfront property and create a safe environment for its residents.

Following our City officials meeting with the Premier of New Brunswick in early 2024, active progress began on a plan for the Province to take ownership of the dilapidated properties. On June 27th, 2024, the first step towards the site revitalization was taken: the auction of three former mill sites at the provincial tax sale. At this time, the Province took ownership of the abandoned properties.
