BOIL ORDER ADVISORY - EAST BATHURST
BOIL ORDER ADVISORY LIFTED
Thursday June 6, 2024 @ 10:00AM
The City of Bathurst informs residents that the BOIL ORDER ADVISORY impacting EAST BATHURST has been lifted.
Thank you for patience and cooperation during this process.
SATURDAY JUNE 1, 2024 - 5:00AM
The City of Bathurst informs residents of EAST BATHURST of a sudden pressure drop in the water distribution system. This was caused by a major break in the water distribution system along Miramichi Avenue.
Because of the sudden drop in water pressure, a BOIL ORDER ADVISORY will be in effect until further notice and all water destined for consumption will need to be held at a rolling boil for 1 minute.
Due to the mandatory testing required to end a boil order, the earliest time at which it can be lifted will be TUESDAY, JUNE 4th, 2024.
For the moment, crews are actively working on repairing the water break in order to resume water services to a number of impacted clients.
The City of Bathurst regrets any inconvenience this may cause.
The following precautions must be taken by all users of the water supply during the boil order:
- All water destined for drinking must be brought to a rolling boil for at least 1 minute, including water that is used for preparing infant formulas, juices, ice cubes, washing fruits and vegetables, cooking and dental hygiene.
- Water can be boiled in a pot or kettle on a stove, in an electric kettle without an automatic shut-off or in a microwave oven. If water is boiled in a microwave, it is advisable to include a wooden or plastic stir stick in the container to diffuse the formation of superheated water.
- It is not necessary to boil water used for other household purposes.
- Adults, adolescents and older children may however bathe or wash using tap water, but should avoid swallowing the water. Toddlers and infants should be sponge-bathed and caregivers need to ensure that no water is swallowed.
