Bathurst Sports Hall of Fame announces 2024 inductees

The Bathurst Sports Hall of Fame will welcome three new members in 2024. Ann Landry, Paul Theriault and Bill Meahan will be officially inducted this fall.

“We are proud to add these three to the BSHF Inductee list. Their contributions in their respective areas were driven by their passion to develop a positive environment for participants. They gave of themselves for the betterment of Bathurst’s sporting and cultural community. We congratulate them for their outstanding efforts,” said Jacob Button, the city’s Recreation Programmer responsible for the Bathurst Sports Hall of Fame.

Ann Landry has been teaching Highland Dance for over 40 years now, 33 of which have been in Bathurst, creating a legacy of dancers in the Bathurst region. She is a member of the world panel for the Royal Scottish Board of Highland Dance and is the only New Brunswicker to ever achieve this. Ann has coached many dancers on provincial, national, and international stages, medaling at all levels of competition, many times.

Paul Theriault was an avid coach, volunteer, team manager, both on the athlete and business sides, for many sports including soccer, ringette, track and field, hockey and basketball, for many leagues, teams, and tournaments, at various levels of competition. Paul has been instrumental in the continued development of many sports in our region through his volunteer and managing contributions.

Bill Meahan was an official referee in hockey for over 50 years, an athlete in baseball and hockey as well as a coach for hockey, baseball and volleyball. He was one of only two referees in NB to gain his CAHA level VI accreditation, was the chair of HNB’s Zone 7 hockey officials for 20+ years, was vice president to the New Brunswick Hockey Officials Association, officiated many major tournaments, and did game reports in the QMJHL as a referee observer.

The Bathurst Sports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremonies will be held on Saturday November 9th, 2024. Tickets for the ceremony will be on sale soon.
