Youghall Beach Park

Golden sand, some of the warmest saltwater in Eastern Canada, and free access to the shore of the Chaleur Bay. Youghall Beach is a favourite gathering place in Bathurst all year round.
The beach is open - seasonal services are closed
Youghall Beach Park and its recreational areas remain open to everyone outside the summer season. Seasonal services have wrapped up for the year and return next summer:
- No lifeguard on duty - swimming is unsupervised.
- Regular beach raking is paused until next season.
- The main canteen is closed for the season.
- The washrooms near the playground are closed for the season.
Visiting Now
A Day at the Beach
Youghall Beach offers the quintessential coastal experience. Whether you're here to swim, soak up the sun, build sandcastles with the kids, enjoy a leisurely picnic, or take a scenic stroll along the shore, the beach invites visitors of all ages to relax and play in a picture-perfect setting. Wide open space and gentle waves make it an ideal destination for solo travellers, couples, families, and friends.
Things to Do
Many of the park's spaces stay open well past the summer season. Whether you'd rather walk the shore in the fall air or get a game going on the sand, Youghall Beach Park has room for it.
Lifeguard Services
Through the summer season, certified lifeguards are on duty every day from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., watching over a clearly identified, easily accessible swimming zone. Fishing is not allowed within the supervised swimming zone, and swimming is never permitted near the channel. Lifeguards return next summer; the 2027 schedule will be posted in June.
Groomed Sand
Feel the difference underfoot - Youghall Beach boasts some of the softest sand in Northern New Brunswick. Through the summer, City of Bathurst crews run a specialized beach cleaner each morning that removes seaweed, driftwood, rocks, and other small debris. Regular raking resumes next season.
Facilities & Accessibility
During the summer season, Youghall Beach is equipped with public washrooms and warm-water showers. Some facilities, including the washrooms near the playground, close for the off-season.
Accessibility is a priority year-round: the beach includes a wheelchair-accessible entrance near the supervised swimming area, plus two floating beach wheelchairs available at no cost. To arrange one, contact the Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department at 506-548-0410. During the summer season, you can also ask a lifeguard on duty.
Canteen
Through the warmer months, the main canteen operated by East Coast Adventures serves cold drinks and quick bites. It is closed for the season - check their page for reopening news next summer.
See You Next Summer
Thank you to all residents, visitors and user groups for helping make 2026 another great season at Youghall Beach. The shore, boardwalk and park are still here to enjoy in the meantime.
