The City of Bathurst is dedicated to providing convenient and accessible parking options for residents, visitors, and businesses. Whether you're stopping by for a short visit or need to cover your Monday-to-Friday parking for work, we offer a variety of parking solutions across the city.

Types of Parking in downtown Bathurst

We offer several types of parking to meet your needs:

  • On-Street Parking: Convenient parking for a maximum of 2 hr. along various streets downtown, where indicated.
  • On-Street Parking (Cunard St): 30 minutes Max.
  • Off-Street Parking (Parking Meters): Hotspot and coin operated, maximum 2 hr.
  • Long-Term Permit Parking (“PARKING B”): For people who work downtown looking for a long-term parking solution.
  • Short-Term Hourly Parking (“PARKING A”): Pay for parking by the day, week or month using the HotSpot app.

Parking Permits – Now fully managed through HotSpot

As of December 1, 2024, all parking permits must be purchased through the HotSpot app, a user-friendly platform that allows you to manage your parking permits conveniently.

  • Manage your permits and parking history in one place.

Existing permits bought from City Hall prior to the transition date will remain valid until they expire, but new permits must be purchased through HotSpot.

Paying a Parking Ticket

All parking tickets can be paid in person at City Hall, located at 150 St George Street. Regular business hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. You can also pay by phone by calling (506) 548-0400.

Certain types of tickets may be eligible for a 50% discount, if paid within 7 days. Take advantage of this and be sure to avoid delays! 

Overnight parking between November 1st and April 30th

Each year, between November 1st and April 30th, overnight parking is restricted in the City of Bathurst to allow for effective snow removal operations.

ByLaw no. 2011-07: "No person shall park a Vehicle on any street or portion of streets between the hours of 12:00 a.m. (midnight) and 7:00 a.m. of any day from November 1st to April 30th of each year."

Requesting a parking exemption

To request a parking exemption for purposes such as construction, moving, or similar activities, please contact the City for written approval. You can reach us by email at parking@bathurst.ca or by phone at 506-548-0400 (ext. 217).

HotSpot is a parking app that allows you to park in designated areas within the City of Bathurst. You can access HotSpot via their website or download the app on your mobile device. For assistance with the HotSpot app, questions about a parking ticket, or other inquiries, please contact HotSpot directly through the app, by email at support@htsp.ca, or by phone at 1-855-712-5888.

Your existing permit will remain valid until its expiration. After that, you will need to use the HotSpot app to purchase a new permit.

If you don’t have access to a smartphone, you can register and log in via the HotSpot website (www.htsp.ca). Here, you can access your balance, pay for permits, or even add additional vehicles from a tablet or desktop computer!

Permits on HotSpot range from 1-day permits, 9-month permits, and parking meter permits. You can even take advantage of the automatic renewal feature to always stay up to date and eliminate the risk of not having parking available.
